Akshay Kumar had recently announced that he would feel happy to play Dara Singh on screen. But, looks like the actor has now changed his mind. Late Dara Singh's son Vindhu Dara Singh revealed that Akshay is in two minds about the biopic.
Talking about the same to PTI, Vindhu said, "Yes, we have spoken to Akshay about the biopic. He hasn't heard the script yet. He knows we want him in the film. He is a little confused and is still thinking. He is a very dedicated actor and whatever he does, he does from the heart."
Vindhu has done many a films with Akshay, and thus shares a great rapport with the star. While Vindhu could've easily convinced another actor to play the part, he insists that Akshay becomes a part of the film. Revealing the reason for Akshay's confusion, Vindhu said, "Akshay thinks he needs to bulk up for the role, I don't think so. I think he needs to be like what he was in 'Brothers' or maybe 10 percent more. I think he will be wonderful as Dara Singh."
The script is almost ready and has been penned by the 'Kasme Vaade' writer Mahrukh Asad Mirza. Vindhu said that he is involved in every aspect of the film, and further added, "From start to end I was part of the script writing, it (story) is very close to our heart and we want it to be made nicely. We want it to be wow. There are a lot of people who want to do a film on him but they can't make it without our consent. Nobody can do a film on Dara Singh except us. He is our father, how can we just allow anyone to make the film."
Dara Singh, last starred in 'Jab We Met', post which the wrestler-actor died in 2012. Taking about doing justice to Dara Singh's life, Vindhu said, "I think this will be the best wrestling film that could ever be made. I think Dara Singh was Dara Singh there can be nobody like him. We want to create a great piece of work which will be an inspiration for youngsters."
Well, it will be brilliant if Akshay agrees to do the part! Who else do you think can play Dara Singh better?
