A former Navy officer, Kulbushan Jadhav, was arrested in a raid near the border town of Chaman in Balochistan on the 24th of March last year on the charges of espionage. The Pakistan army, on April 10, 2017, sentenced him to death as the military court found him guilty of "involvement in espionage and sabotage activities" against the country.
The controversy over his death sentence has now become a national debate. Recently, Sushant Singh Rajput was asked to comment on the same, however, the actor restrained and stated that he would read more upon the controversy. Whereas Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana at a recent event spoke at large about Kulbushan Jadhav controversy.
When asked about her opinion on the controversy, Parineeti said, "I really feel that I am the least important and least worthy to comment on this genuinely. Our government is on it, they are dealing with it the way they should and they will do what's absolutely best for our country, for the person involved and I don't think my opinion matters."
She further added, "I think both the nations have different narratives. For them, he is a spy, but for us, he is a defence person. I think there is this another army officer who has been caught from Nepal. I think we don't even know what's happening - RAW and ISI. I think you and I can't even talk about it. How do we know is it right or wrong."
When asked about Sushant refraining from talking about the incident as he felt he lacked information, Pari opined, "Again to each is own ya! I feel yes we are actors and we are actors because we love acting and we love entertaining you guys, we love to be in films. But just because our voices reach the whole country, I don't think you can suddenly force me to have an interest or opinion on something that which is not concerned with me. If I am genuinely a sports enthusiast, I will comment on something that is happening in tennis for example! But if I don't have any knowledge or I don't have the interest, then I shouldn't be forced to give an opinion just because I am in front of you. That's what I personally feel. And those who want to comment can comment, those who don't want to will not comment. It is a democracy but I think we are forgetting that."
