'3 Storeys' is a film about real people and the recently-released trailer showcases the interfaith love story of the protagonists played by debutants Ankit Rathi and Aisha Ahmed. The film also stars Renuka Shahane, Richa Chadha and Pulkit Samrat in lead roles. The film is set in the backdrop of a society and reveals details about each story that unravels as the film goes on.
Today, we got the opportunity to sit down with Arjun Mukherjee, the director of the film. '3 Storeys' makes for Mukherjee's first feature film and about it, he said, "What intrigues me about the script is the exploration of what lies beneath, what lies behind the surface, what lies behind the veil and what lies behind the mash you’re wearing. What I find fascinating about humans is that we wear thousands of masks on a daily basis. We have different masks for different people. And we go about these different masks seamlessly and we are experts at it. So my love for the script came from the fact that here we are sort of trying to unmask and see what lies behind all the layers. This film is strongly about love and when you are in love with someone it is about dropping the mask and revealing who we really are and being comfortable with the other person without any artifice. And this film deals with love very strongly. That is what intrigued me…getting behind the fakeness."
Aisha Ahmed, the debutante also revealed what she liked best about the film. "I was looking at the script and thinking that this is me. So I had to go and give the audition which is where I met Arjun, the director. The fifth day I signed the contract and when they narrated the story to me, I thought that if this is even quarter of what it is on the script, this is a brilliant film. And now that I’ve seen this film, I just feel that this is only better than what it was on the script with the music and direction. I am very blessed that I got to be a part of this film," she said. "We don’t see many intriguing and mystery films in Bollywood. This movie has so much drama and mystery. I think it is perfect with everything altogether," she added.
Talking about wanting to do a typical love-story Hindi film, she said, "I would love to do the typical love story. I think I would nail it! I would really love to do something like a ‘Golmaal’. I want to keep entertaining people until the day I die with every project of mine."
We can't wait for '3 Storeys'! What about you?
