Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor are a much talked about pair in Bollywood. The two have managed to time and again impress the audience with their sizzling chemistry. But it is not often that you get to see that kind of chemistry between actors. So what makes Aditya and Shraddha's chemistry so different from the rest? The two reveal the secrets behind their on-screen chemistry in an exclusive interview.
How do you manage to translate your real life chemistry to celluloid?Aditya: Honestly, I don’t think we gave too much thought to it. It is not something consciously done. In ‘Aashiqui 2’, I think we found ourselves at ease in front of the camera. There is an understanding, honesty, and the film happened organically. There was nothing we had to work on or create, and the same goes for this film. Luckily, this film was different, and the script demanded a different kind of chemistry. It is not something we switch-on and switch-off.
Shraddha: A lot of people ask us this question. We are asked this question so many times, but both of us are like we don’t know. I think, from the word go or from the day we met each other and started working together, there was a camaraderie that naturally came in. And there is no explanation for that.
Once you finish a film you both move on to different things, but then as you come together the chemistry is still there. How does that happen?Aditya: It is like meeting an old friend. You meet a friend after years, and you feel like you’ve picked up from where you left. It is the same.
Shraddha: Yes, it is like meeting a friend after years but feeling you met them just last week.
How much of your off-screen friendship translates into on-screen chemistry?Shraddha: I consider him to be my good friend. And when you develop a certain kind of camaraderie, it stays with you beyond films. You end up staying in touch, you end up talking. When we came on sets after three years, we picked up from where we left off.
Aditya: We were doing different things, and when we came together it was different because this was a different kind of film. There was a sense of newness in the film. During ‘Aashiqui 2’ it was different; the film was about intense love. Whereas ‘Ok Jaanu’ is a different film altogether, it required a different kind of attitude. It took us a few days to get into what ‘Ok Jaanu’ was all about.
Aditya and Shraddha have such a magical chemistry on-screen that we're sure that their upcoming film 'Ok Jaanu' will create wonders!
