Actor Dhanush’s critically acclaimed production ‘Visaranai’ is India’s official pick for Oscars 2017 in the Foreign Language Film category. The official announcement was made on Thursday and the superstar has expressed his joy and gratitude to everyone for believing in his vision and supporting his hard work.
His official statement reads: “Good evening everybody. This is just turning out to be a glorious day. After the super positive initial reports for ‘Thodari’ now ‘Visaranai’ has been selected as the official entry to Oscars from India. Proud moment for Wunderbar Films and Vetrimaaran. Dream big.” He added: “My sincere thanks to all those who believed in me and my production house. I would like to thank the fantastic cast of ‘Visaranai’, Dinesh, Samuthirakani, Kishore. Directed by filmmaker Vetrimaaran, starring Dinesh, Samuthirakani, Ajay Ghosh and Kishore, ‘Visaranai’ wand produced by Dhanush, the movie has been inspired from the novel ‘Lock Up’ by auto-rickshaw driver-turned-writer M. Chandrakumar and revolves around the issue of organized crime within the police force and police brutality. The movie released under Dhanush’s home banner Wunderbar Films and earned critical acclaim last year at its world premiere at Venice International Film Festival, and bagged many National Film Awards as well.
The film is expected to release soon in Telugu as “Vicharana”. Congratulations and all the best to the team!
