Rumours about the alleged fallout between director David Dhawan and his one-time favourite actor Govinda have been doing the rounds for quite some time. In fact, the actor even went as far as to suggest that David was an opportunist who had taken advantage of the actor and then dumped him during his hard times. Reportedly, Govinda even sniggered when comparisons were made between him and Varun Dhawan.
However, the father-son duo, David, and Varun never responded to Govinda’s allegations. According to a source, both father, and son, were eager to pacify the rift between them and Govinda. A source close to the director stated, “David offered Govinda his next movie, and an invitation to watch his son’s Judwaa 2. Govinda gladly accepted both offers.”
Speaking about the topic, David stated, “We’re all friends in the industry. There was never any problem with Govinda. If he was hurt that I hadn’t worked with him for a while, he had every reason to be hurt. He has the right to pull me up if he has a grievance. The rivalry and animosity has been created in the media to sell sensational stories. Govinda and I never had a problem. We’re definitely working together. Why shouldn’t we?”
There were also rumours which claimed that a reworked Judwaa song had seen Govinda’s name being dropped in ‘Judwaa 2’. Talking about the song, David patiently explained, “It’s a new version of the old Salman song. We can’t have the same references again for Varun.”
When asked if Govinda would see ‘Judwaa 2’ anytime soon, David stated, “Of course, at the earliest. Varun is like a son to Govinda. He needs his blessings.”
