Bhumi Pednekar and Ayushmann Khurrana starrer ‘Manmarziyan’ has hit another road block. The film is said to have continually faced issues - first, it was the rains that played spoilsport during the shoot, and now one hears that producer Aanand L. Rai cannot find a director to helm the film.
The film was announced in January this year and was to be helmed by director Sameer Sharma. However, in March Sameer was shown the door as Aanand was not happy with the rushes that were shot in Shimla and Amritsar during the first schedule of the film. Later, Ashwiny Iyer of the 'Nil Battey Sannata' fame was brought onboard to direct the film.
While it seemed like things were finally falling into place, northern rains played spoilsport because of which the shoot was stalled. Rumours of Ayushmann opting out of the film too left the makers in a tizzy. With nothing falling in place for the film, looks like Aanand has finally decided to shelve the film. A source close to a leading daily revealed, “
Ayushmann and Bhumi are now busy with their respective films Bareilly Ki Barfi and Toilet-Ek Prem Katha. Aanand himself being a director is a difficult man to please and no other director wants to take up the thankless job.”
Two directors have already opted out, and no new director wants to take up the film as it is difficult to match-up to Rai's vision. With so many hindrances ahead of the film, the makers are left with almost no hope. Or so until the makers announce that the film will now be helmed by Aanand himself.
