The Ajay Devgn-Ileana D'Cruz starrer was released last Friday in India. The movie was all set to release in Pakistan on September 1 but was delayed to avoid competition with domestic movies that hit the screens around Eid. "To ensure that there was no competition for two big Pakistani films, 'Punjab Nahi Jaungi' and 'Na Maloom Afraad 2', no screen was allocated for 'Baadshaho'," an insider said.
The source further said that 'Punjab...' was released in 1,200 screens while 'Na Maloom...' opened in 1,500 screens on Eid. Pakistani sources say that distributors and editors were pressurized by filmmakers to not release any big-budget Indian movies during Eid as they would collide with a lot of Pakistani films that were also set for their release.
"With these two films capturing all the screens, there was obviously no sense in releasing 'Baadshaho'," a well-known film distributor said. The decision to delay the release of 'Baadshaho' has resulted in good business for both the Pakistani films. "For the first time, both the Pakistani films got a worldwide release and did good business too," the distributor said. Some influential Pakistani filmmakers had earlier blocked the release of the Salman Khan-starrer, 'Tubelight' in Pakistani cinema halls in June, fearing they would lose out on big business.
After getting a good response in India, it looks like ‘Baadshaho’ is all set to dazzle the audience in our neighboring country. Stay tuned for more updates.
