Anil Kapoor and Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra last year shared the first poster to announce their collaboration titled 'Fanney Khan'. While it is confirmed that Rakyesh is the producer of the film, the filmmaker got on board debutant director Atul Manjrekar to direct 'Fanney Khan'. The project was to roll out last year, however, Mehra got busy with 'Mirzya' and hence the project was put on hold.
A recent report now suggests that Mehra has signed on Aishwarya Rai to play the lead opposite Anil. A source close to an online portal revealed, "Aishwarya is part of Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra’s film. It’s a drama. It’s his kind of cinema." An official confirmation from the makers of 'Fanney Khan' is awaited.
During a press interaction for Cannes, Aishwarya had dropped hints about her future projects, Aishwarya said, "I liked two subjects already. So, as and when, we feel the need or when the time is right, we will share the news with you. But I just started listening to scripts now." The actress had then also confirmed that she and Abhishek Bachchan have been approached for Anurag Kashyap's 'Gulab Jamun'.
The source further adds that Mehra has joined hands with KriArj Entertainment, and they will soon lock the cast. The makers plan to roll out the movie by the end of this year. 'Fanney Khan' is a musical comedy and is said to be an official adaptation of Dominique Deruddere’s 'Everybody’s Famous'. Reportedly, Anil is all set to play a father of a budding singer in the film.
