Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ to not release in Pakistan
Post incurring a loss of Rs 150 million, Pakistan cinema owners decided to do away with the ban. But distributors of 'Dangal' confirm that the film will not release in Pakistan
Miss Kyra | Dec 20, 2016, 18:00 ISTCinema owners in Pakistan have faced a loss of Rs 150 million over two months. The loss incurred is because of a self-imposed ban by cinema owners who refused to screen Indian films post tensions between India and Pakistan increased. The Uri attacks and cross-border ceasefires left the two countries in a state of war, and while India banned Pak artistes from seeking work here, Pakistan too imposed a ban on screening Indian films.
But post incurring a loss, the Pakistan cinema owners decided to do away with the ban. They decided on releasing 'Dangal' in Pakistan, raising questions if India too will suspend its ban on Pak artistes. However, India maintains its stand against Pak artists seeking work in India. With Bollywood coming in support of Pakistan's recent move, the distributors of 'Dangal' have revealed that the film is not going release in the bordering country.
A spokesperson of the distributors released an official statement confirming that 'Dangal' will not release in Pakistan. Has this decision come in the wake of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena maintaining its stand on the ban?
