Sidharth Malhotra is one of the hottest actors in Bollywood. With no godfather in the film industry, the actor is making his way up the ladder slowly but surely. 02/11Sidharth Malhotra was an assistant director before making his Bollywood debut
Sidharth Malhotra had never known that he would make his Bollywood debut with Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’. But hard work has brought him to being a successful actor in the film industry, who recently opened up about his struggling days. Talking about his early days as a budding actor, Sidharth revealed that he actually started out in Bollywood as an assistant director for ‘Dostana’. Before that, he tried out his luck in advertisements and which was met with many rejections along the way. According to reports, the actor lost out on his first audition but soon bagged a big ad deed. However, he found it very discouraging as he faced many rejections after that as well. However, according to Sid, the worst part about it all was that they always made him feel small and unimportant. Sidharth was a model before he entered the industry. In the end, he apparently could not deal with all the negativity and ended up being an assistant director in ‘My Name is Khan’ along with Varun Dhawan before Karan Johar finally gave him his big break. He wants to make his own film someday.
03/11Sidharth Malhotra’s father was in the Merchant Navy
He is born to Sunil Malhotra and Rimmi Malhotra, Sidharth is very fond of travelling, right from childhood, courtesy his parents. Sidharth's father was in the Merchant Navy and the actor would join his dad during his summer break. His journey into stardom was not easy. Sidharth was a model before he made his acting debut with Karan Johar's ‘Student of the Year’. But like most newcomers, he did not have it easy at first. He had once said that shifting to Mumbai from Delhi was very tough for him. Giving auditions very even more difficult as the films did not work out for him. He had to look a lot for a house as well. He is the heartthrob of Bollywood, but the actor wishes to play a villain in the ‘Batman’ series and in Bollywood, he would love to do Mogambo or Shakaal. The actor has worked in various films and has done different characters as well, but being a villain will be totally different, or in general playing, a negative character will be a new thing for the actor. He had said earlier that, "I would love to play these characters. With Bane, he has something covering his mouth but I love the way his voice is different. With Mogambo, I liked his cool den which had props to kill people and get rid of them," he said. We would love to see him as a villain as well on screen. He would be a handsome looking villain don’t you think?
05/11Sidharth Malhotra would love to work with Deepika Padukone
The actor has worked with some of the amazing actresses like Parineeti Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Jacqueline Fernandez, Katrina Kaif and Shraddha Kapoor, but the actor wishes to work with Deepika Padukone, as he feels that the actress had the similar journey, as Deepika Padukone as also struggled in the beginning of her career, like the actor. Sidharth Malhotra had earlier when said that he thinks that he has seen Deepika Padukone during the modeling career when they used to do shows together. The actor had also said that Deepika is similar in height. The actor also feels that working with Shraddha Kapoor great as she is the coolest and the most adventurous actress. Oscar is the best housemate he has. Everybody in the industry has spoken about his roommate. From Alia Bhatt to Jacqueline Fernandez everyone had a tale to say about Oscar. After becoming an actor, the one thing that Sidharth misses is taking his dog for a walk. He also shot an advertisement with an animal NGO to raise awareness about dogs. The actor, who was last seen in 'Baar Baar Dekho', loves his pet dog. Sidharth also considers himself to be happy, leading a content life. He lives alone in a plush apartment in Mumbai but has an adorable pet boxer, Oscar, for a company. He also happens to be a dog lover and campaigns for the animal welfare NGO, PETA.

Sidharth's role model is none other than King Khan of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan. The dapper actor worked as an assistant director on Karan Johar's 'My Name Is Khan' before debuting in 'Student of the Year'. That's when he got a chance to interact with King Khan and considers him to be his role model. Sidharth Malhotra had said once, "Shah Rukh Khan is my role model. I worked as an AD on My Name is Khan and I interacted with him. He was sweet enough to give us pointers. While we were shooting for the film, we were secluded and the cameras were far off. He (SRK) was playing Rizwan. I thought he was mumbling his lines and he told me to look around and check props. Just the kind of person he is, the way he carries his stardom, I am a fan on and off camera. I wish I stay as level-headed and grounded as he is. He's the same Delhi boy."
08/11‘Student Of The Year’ wasn't supposed to be his debut film
Siddharth was supposed to make his Bollywood debut in 'Fashion', opposite Priyanka Chopra. However, due to contractual obligations with Gladrags, he couldn't take up the project. In 2007, he became second runner-up at the Gladrags mega-model and Manhunt pageant. Due to the contract signed under Gladrags, he had to give up on the film. Sidharth was discovered by a casting agent at a cafe when he was just 16 years old. He admits that he pursued modelling for the big bucks and acting for the beauty of the art. The actor was born on 16th January 1985. 'Fashion' also starred Kangana Ranaut and Mugdha Ghodse.
