Dhwani Vora | Aug 1, 2019, 15:16 ISTOnce you get your mind into thinking that you want to lose weight, the two main things that you start doing is exercising and eating less. But that's not how you should be going about it. Honestly, once you start working out, you see some changes in your body and you immediately go to celebrate that with a scoop of ice cream. There goes all your effort in vein. Your food habits and your workout routines always depend on one another. You're in a wrong perception if you think only dieting or only exercising will do the work and result in weight loss. It's a task to lose weight and so you have to be consistent with both dieting as well as exercising.
I'm sure you might think if working out more would do the trick. Here's what the new scientist explains: People who increased their workout routine don't actually shed more pounds. This is because suppose if you go for a challenging hike and accomplish it. You instantly feel like celebrating the moment and treat yourself to a casual chocolate shake. This is where you go wrong. People tend to overestimate the calories that they burn when they exercise.
Another theory says that people stop moving after they think they've worked out enough. They think since they've exercised enough, it's going to be alright if they remain sedentary. Although, exercise physiologist Lara Dugas says, "That doesn't mean you lose that 500-calorie run because you're sedentary for the rest of the day. That doesn't make sense"
Hence, the best theory to put to use is to make sure you eat right and exercise equally right as well. Your body will make its adjustments by burning calories and eating the right kind of food in order to keep up with the energy levels.
