Celebrity nutritionist, Rujuta Diwekar who is famously known for being the backbone behind Kareena Kapoor Khan’s size zero bod is making headlines in the recent time. In her latest book for young kids, ‘Notes for Healthy Kids’ she gives a lot of tips and hacks to raise kids in a believably healthy manner. The book also consists of a lot of advice, in the form of food options, meal timings, and exercises. Here are some of the highlights from her book.
Alternatives for Milk, Calcium, Vegetables
While milk and vegetables are great nutritious foods, Rujuta says that one should diversify their sources for nutrients to reap the maximum benefits. For example, one shouldn’t aim to get all of their dietary calcium requirements from milk. Rujuta strongly recommends seasonal items like
til ke laddoo for calcium,
makke di roti and
sarso da saag for protein and amla, ber and other seasonal fruits for minerals and vitamins.
Making dining out more healthier
Unlike most nutritionist, Rujuta doesn’t ask you to rule out dining out with children. Instead, she gives tips to make it a healthier experience. She advises to step out for an early dinner, by 6:30 pm and choose a single cuisine restaurant. However, she does conclude by saying it’s essential to find more non-food options to bond with children.
