On Thursday in Navi Mumbai, a 43-year-old man was forcibly trying to kiss a woman commuter. He has been arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF). The accused, identified as Naresh Joshi, reportedly molested the woman while she was waiting to board a local train to Ghansoli for work.
Inspector Krishna Kadam said, “We have registered a case under IPC section 354 (A) (sexual harassment) and are investigating the matter. The incident was caught on CCTV camera feed in the station which was being monitored by an RPF team. When the team saw the accused suspiciously hanging around the station premises after molesting the woman, constables were rushed to the spot. The police then approached the victim and based on her directions traced the accused to a subway.
In January a similar incident took place, a 23-year-old man was arrested for abusing and forcibly kissing his ex-girlfriend in public on Carter road. The woman had stated that when she was with her friends on Carter Road, the accused blocked her path and forcibly kissed her.
In the same month another incident occurred, an 18-year-old woman was allegedly molested on a Mumbai-bound express train. The victim had tweeted to police about her harassment by an unidentified molester while she was travelling in the Konark Express.
