More and more Indian women are now starting to travel on solo trips outside of India. Women seem to be keener in exploring foreign destinations like Eastern Europe, South America, Spain and others a senior member of a reputed tourist company said. “There is good interest among Indian travellers to explore Eastern Europe, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Egypt, Peru, Costa Rica, Ireland, Italy, South America and others,” he added.
He said that a lot of female professionals including young mothers prefer travelling solo out of India and that this is a new trend that has begun. He added that the reasons for such a trend to have begun could be because these days tourist companies offer a lot more than they used to before like exclusive access to iconic sites and meets and greets with prominent local citizens and such.
He also said that one of the main issues that most India women used to face earlier was the unavailability of vegetarian food. Now, even that problem has been taken care of as most tourist companies ensure that they take their tourists to reputed or Michelin rated restaurants, where genuine vegetarian food is easily available. When asked if local tourist companies can face tough competition from online bookings, he said that “Online agencies are growing. But they offer only the basic services like ticket or hotel bookings. Whereas offline agencies go a step further and assist in planning the trip and even visa formalities.”
