Belly fat is harder to lose than fat in any other area of your body. You may be working out hard and sticking to your diet religiously and still not see results in that area.
While you may be shedding the pounds gradually, losing belly fat can take some time and you may need to make a few tweaks in your routine.
The first thing you need to do is assess what could be the underlying issues. If you are doing everything right, then there must be something you need to change or perhaps get more of.
Here are a few reasons you may not be losing belly fat:
1. You're getting insufficient sleep: The last thing you want to do when you are trying to lose weight is sleep less than seven hours. Getting a good seven to eight hours of sleep is as important as your workout routine. Too little sleep and it can cause your body to produce excess ghrelin - a hormone that increases appetite.
2. You may have PCOS: If you have Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), then you may have high levels of testosterone, which causes you to gain weight. It could also make it harder for you to lose weight. The best solution is to consult with a doctor so you can get the proper treatment and get back on track with your weight loss goals.
3. Stress: Feeling stressed is good for nobody. It can cause a host of issues, including cause you to develop belly fat. When you are feeling worried and anxious, your body releases a stress hormone called cortisol, which causes you to gain weight, particularly around the belly.
4. Too much salt in your diet: Do your meals have too much salt in them? Excess salt can cause us to feel bloated and puffy. This is because of the high amount of sodium salt contains.
5. You've chosen the wrong workout routine: If you are exercising to target a specific area of your body, then you have to be mindful of what type of physical activity you are doing. A brisk walk in the park is not going to help you lose belly fat. Do your research and find out which workout gets the best results and how often you need to do it.
