All you have to say is that you had a dream about him. That's good enough to get the conversation started and once you do, you can go anywhere from there. Of course, it is important that you've planned on telling him some story which probably ends with the two of you together or something mushy like that.

If there's ever a night when you can't go to sleep, it would be best to use this as an opportunity to text him. Just start with a "Hey are you up? I couldn't fall asleep". If he's awake, great and if not then he's sure to be pleased that of all the people you could text at that time, you chose to text him.
