If we had to say the word ‘indulgence’ or ‘fun’ in the language of skincare, we would all collectively think of face masks. And why not? Some are creamy, some are decadent, some leave you feeling fresh. Basically they’re a tub (or sheet) full of spa treatments. Which is why, every time we want to pamper our skin, we slather on a face mask, without a thought to which one to use. So, here’s help.
02/5Cream mask
As one would think, cream masks are perfect for normal to dry skin. They’re usually rich in moisturisers and oils that can go deep into the layers of the skin to make them more supple. Besides, they’re soothing to apply on itchy skin as well. While picking up a mask, look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, algae extracts in your cream masks.
03/5Clay mask
A clay mask is usually restorative and moisturising which is specifically designed to suck out the excess oil from oily and combination skin. Clay is the perfect ingredient to provide the skin with moisture, while making the skin firmer and tighter. It usually also boasts ingredients like clarifying enzymes and sulphur which can be great to treat acne breakouts.
04/5Gel mask
Gel masks can be soothing and cooling, making it perfect for sensitive skin that needs hydration. Depending on the active ingredients, gel masks can also be good for mature or irritated skin or acne inflammated skin as well. They are another subtle way to add moisturisation in your skincare routine.
05/5Exfoliating mask
Exfoliating masks are great gently scrubbing off dull, dead skin cells and deep-seated dirt in the pores. The masks are usually made with ingredients like glycolic acid, hydroxyl acids and lactic acids. They also have naturally brightening properties, which give the skin a lit-from-within glow that you can see almost instantly.
