When Instagram first came out in 2010, everyone was raving over its awesome filters and frames and how they completely changed the look and feel of our pictures. It wouldn’t be an overstatement if we said that Instagram made us feel like professional photographers, without ever holding a professional camera. Cut to 8 years later, Instagram is now bought by Facebook and has completely lost its old-worldly charm. It has adopted an algorithmic feed and that has made getting your posts the attention they deserve even more difficult. Which only means one thing – it’s time to upgrade! (From Instagram’s built-in filters) Here’s a list of our favourite photo editing apps that will up your Instagram game.
02/5VSCO
VSCO is one of the most superior photo editing tools that is easy to use as well. It offers 10 pre-set filters (3 B&W and 7 couloured.) Not only that, you can edit the amount of filter you want to apply to each photo. If that doesn’t help, you can always adjust the brightness, saturation, contrast, temperature and more. Additionally, you can also crop and change the perspective of all your images.
03/5Snapseed
Google’s Snapseed is a powerful photo editing tool you must take notice of. While it has the usual pre-set filters and a variety of other useful tools, the most innovative tool it has, has to be the ‘Expand’ feature which allows you to increase the dimensions of the image. Personally, we don’t feel the need for professional photo-editing apps like Photoshop after using this one.
04/5Facetune
If you’re one of those selfie junkies (hey, no judgement) this app is for you. Facetune specifically focuses on making YOU look better in pictures. Users can smoothen their skin, reshape their face, make their waist appear smaller or bigger and emphasize other body parts. The Kardashian clan is infamous for using it. While the app is paid, which is a bummer, it’s super easy interface more than makes up for it.
05/5Afterlight
Afterlight comes with all the standard editing tools you would expect from any photo editing app - Saturation, Contrast, Exposure, and even RBG Shadow tones can be adjusted. But that’s not why we love it.It is when it comes to the filters that the apps offer is where it really shines. The app offers dozens of pre-set filter that have completely different aesthetic appeals. The high-quality filter, if used correctly can make it seem organic than made up. The app also lets you export your image in high-resolution. We’re completely sold on this one, are you?
