Pregnancy might be amongst the most beautiful times of a woman's life but it can also be one of the most tedious and tiring ones. There are so many changes that pregnancy can bring to a woman's body and skin and let's just say not all of these changes are nice. While some women may have a pregnancy glow, many others end up with constant skin issues due to all the hormonal changes. So, if you've been having some skin issues during your pregnancy, here's how you can deal with them.
Issues you might have:
-Skin tags become very common during pregnancy and occur around the neck, back, chest, groin and even under the breasts. They don't pose any harm to your body but they are unattractive to look at.
-There can be a spike in melanin levels which can lead to conditions like Chloasma - brown patches on your face. And these usually get worse under the sun.
-The hormonal changes in your body can also lead to hyperpigmentation on your body. And although this usually fades after delivery, sometimes the condition can prolong for years.
-Acne, breakouts, zits, pimples etc are pretty common during pregnancy because of all the hormonal fluctuations your body goes through. And while these also often fade after the delivery, they can leave scars on your face.
How you can deal with these problems:-Remember to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water. Water can help get rid of toxins from the body and can thus also give your skin the glow it needs.
-Wash your face at least twice a day with a mild cleanser and splash your face with water multiple times a day to help keep the oil production in your skin under control.
-Stretch marks can't be treated completely. But you can minimise their damage during pregnancy by applying natural oils like almond oil to all the affected areas.
-Wear loose clothes and use a cold compress as well as topical treatments to help get rid of hyperpigmentation. You must also use lukewarm water to wash your face. And always make sure to use
pregnancy-safe products.
-Follow a good diet during your pregnancy. You must eat healthy foods that are rich in proteins, fibres, vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients. It'll help combat your skin issues as well.
