Since the time we're all in a lockdown, a lot of us have been spending some time in the kitchen trying out new dishes from scratch. Some have found a new love for baking while some have become a master of a few cuisines. While all of that is okay, have you thought of how you could make use of the leftover food?
Well, if you haven't figured that out yet, we've got you a few ways how you can reduce the wastage of food and make some tasty quarantine snacks from the leftovers instead.
- Nuts: If yo have the last few almonds or cashews left which you don't wish to snack on, you can make a healthier version of trail mix. This needs you to grab the leftover nuts and out them in a big bowl and add some dark chocolate chips. The rest of it could be managed by using the Internet and you're going to have a much healthier snack to munch on.
- Fruits: Are your fruits going bad? You can make a healthy snack out of berries, bananas and any fruit that you have at home by blending it all in a smoothie. You can also use bananas in baking recipes and they also work well as a thickener for vegan desserts. Citrus fruits like oranges and lemons can also work wonders for baking where you can add the zest to add flavour to cakes, scones, etc.
- Bread: If you have a packet of stale bread at home, the extra crunch of it can be great to make bread crumbs which you can use on top of macaroni and cheese or even make breaded chicken. You can also cut some bread into small chunks, season them and then toast them up to make homemade croutons.
