On Sunday, a 21-year-old MBA student of Hyderabad hanged herself in her hostel room during a video call with her boyfriend. The girl was from Sivani College. She was from Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared brought dead. The 21-year-old girl had joined the MBA course at the college near Kompally last year. An investigation is currently underway.
The police said, the management student allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan during a video call with her boyfriend at her hostel in Hyderabad. She took the extreme step during the early morning hours, while video chatting with her boyfriend Dakshit Patel.
An official working at Petbasheerabad police station, "We don't have any confirmation that she committed suicide while the video call was on. However, she had spoken with her friend on video call before resorting to the extreme step. Her friend told us that the victim had said that she would hang herself. He also told us that he saw her hanging.” Patel and Chowdary had been in a relationship for a while.
Reportedly, Haneesha Chowdary, was angry after her friend expressed unhappiness over her attending a marriage, the police said.
The police officer also said, "A minor argument broke out between them after which she seems to have told him that she was going to end her life.” After watching her commit suicide on the video call, her boyfriend rushed to the hostel, broke open her room and took her to the hospital. The body has now been shifted to state-run Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad for a post-mortem. Police said that the victim's parents have filed a complaint and case of suspicious death has been registered.
