We all know that consuming a healthy diet can be really good for our bodies. It can even boost heart health and can prevent lots of health conditions. But now, a new study has found that consuming a healthy diet isn't just good for heart health but is also great for the brain. As per the study, if one starts consuming a healthy diet by their mid-20s, by the time they're middle-aged, the diet can have lots of positive impacts on their brain.
For the study, around 2,621 people were assessed based on three different kinds of diets that are believed to be good for the heart. These diets were the Mediterranean diet, the DASH diet (focuses on low-sodium foods) and a research-based diet plan. All the diets ensured that people consumed the right amounts of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains while lessening saturated fat consumption.
Eventually, the participants were examined at different ages like 25, 32 and 45 years. Their mental acumen was also accessed when they turned 50 years old and then later again when they turned 55. It was found that people who consumed healthy diets like the Mediterranean diet fared better in activities like organising and planning. It was even found that after consuming this diet, risks of poor cognitive ability were reduced by 46 to 52 percent. Well, this sure looks like proof that consuming the right diet can really aid your health
