There are certain accessories in a woman’s wardrobe that instantly add to her glamour quotient, like hair extensions, fake eyelashes, heels and corsets. However, like every coin has two sides, these alluring accessories have their own set of drawbacks. And as tempting as it is to instantly add a few extra inches to ones frame with high heels, these do more harm than good in the long run.
If you take away from the glamour quotient and confident that heels give you, here’s what these shoes really do to you:
1. Lower Back Pain Meant for fashion and not comfort, high heels put the body weight on the balls of the feet rather than equal distribution throughout the feet. This puts a lot of pressure on the lower back and may even cause rupture of the tiny veins over the years. You must have felt the pain post removing the heels after wearing them for a long period. Imagine how bad it can get over the years.
2. Foot Pain Heels hold the feet in a very awkward position for a long time which is both uncomfortable and unnatural. It also interferes with the natural design of the skeleton's bones and causes immense discomfort.
3. Sore Calves with Ugly Veins Since the calves remain contracted when the heels are on, they start to ache. While one can get over this pain, another consequence is veins throbbing and becoming considerably visible in the calves. That sure does make one a little conscious about flaunting one's legs.
4. Sprained Ankles If one starts counting the number of major ankle sprains caused by high heels that would be reason enough to stop wearing them. It takes one second to lose balance and twist the ankle but months for a full recovery. And to be honest, the discomfort and pain caused in those months is not really worth the temporary satisfaction one gets by wearing heels.
5. Negative impact on the natural curve of the spine While the natural shape of the spine is elegant and dignified, high heels tamper with that over the years and spoil the posture. It can cause premature hunching and back ache.
