Sridevi's untimely death left many shocked, celebrities and fans alike. The late veteran actress made her 'comeback' into films in 2012 with Gauri Shinde’s 'English Vinglish' and she also starred in 'Mom' last year. However, now the buzz is that Karan Johar had cast Sridevi in a project of his, 'Shiddat'. And while there was a buzz about this prior to her sudden demise, nothing had been confirmed.
On the reality show, Karan Johar revealed that he was indeed planning a film with Sridevi. A source from the sets of the show told a leading daily, “Karan revealed that Sridevi was elated when he proposed to launch her daughter Janhvi in 'Dhadak'. Exactly a week later, he went to her residence again to ask if she can be a part of another (Karan Johar's production house) film that he had conceptualised. Sridevi had loved the idea of the movie and they were supposed to begin shooting in April. However, life struck with its uncertainty and Sridevi was taken away before Karan had a chance to work with her for the first time.”
Karan also revealed that he was a huge fan of Sridevi. “Karan would watch it repeatedly because he was a big fan. He also shared that Shekhar Kapur (who directed 'Mr. India') had accepted a challenge from Feroz Khan (who’d made 'Janbaaz'), that nobody can make Sridevi look as sexy as he did in a chiffon saree. The 'Mr. India' song 'Kaate Nahi Katate' with her in a blue chiffon sari was shot as a direct consequence of that challenge,” the source added.
Titled 'Shiddat', Karan had cast, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt and Sridevi for the film. The film was to go on floors this April. Well, this would be one film we'd have liked her to be in!
