Suniel Shetty, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal starrer 'Hera Pheri' released in 2000, and managed to leave the audience in splits with their crazy banter. Owing to the success of the film, the makers decided to turn it into a franchise and released a sequel titled 'Phir Hera Pheri' in 2006.
The makers also went on announce 'Hera Pheri 3', however, with director Neeraj Vora suffering a massive stroke in October last year, the film since then has been put on hold.
In a recent interview with a leading tabloid, Suniel spoke about the third instalment of the film and said, "'Hera Pheri' is a huge franchise, one of the first few films to have had a successful sequel ('Phir Hera Pheri', 2006). All the characters — Raju (Akshay Kumar), Shyam (Suniel) and Babu Bhai (Paresh Rawal) — have stayed with the audience and there is a brand recall. As co-stars too, we get along like a house on fire. We must make it [part 3] for fans."
Talking about Neeraj, Suniel said, "I believe he is doing better now. Once he is fit, we will roll out the film."
Apart from 'Hera Pheri 3', Suniel will be next seen in Sidharth Malhotra-Jacqueline Fernandez starrer 'Reload'. Talking about his character in the film, Suniel said, "I play a grey character. I can't talk much about it, but it's a perfect comeback film. I am playing my age and had a lot of fun."
