'MOM' actress Sridevi in a recent interview confessed that getting daughter Janhvi Kapoor married would giver her more happiness as compared to her acting debut. Explaining further, Sridevi admitted that she had to reluctantly surrender to her daughter's starry ambitions.
The 'Chalbaaz' actress reminisced that how growing up, Janhvi wanted to be a doctor, a teacher and so she was so shocked when her eldest told her that she wanted to follow her mum’s footsteps. Sridevi explained, "While we may slog, we’re protective of our children and don’t want to expose them to stress and toil. But a friend’s daughter, who was pushed into marriage early, still complains, even after six years of a happy marriage. I didn’t want Janhvi to blame me so I gave my consent even though I wish she’d stayed away from this industry because I didn’t want my child to go through all the pain, sacrifices and heartache."
Giving an example of the invasive media culture, Sridevi cited the example of a recent B-town party where it was reported that Janhvi had been chasing an actor at a party. Sridevi recalled the conversation that she had with her daughter, "'But mummy, I was with Gauri aunty'. Janhvi protested and I told her, ‘Welcome to my world, if you want to be a part of it, you have to be prepared for all this.'"
Talking about her younger daughter, Khushi Kapoor, Sridevi sighed that she is now waiting for Khushi to give her the shock. Sridevi revealed, "She has already started modelling and it will end up with her saying, ‘Mujhe bhi acting karni hai."
When asked if there is any film of hers that she would like Janhvi to take forward, Sridevi added, “Abhi tak to aage bhi nahin badi hai woh, let’s see how she does in her first film." On being quizzed if her daughter is being launched by Karan Johar in the 'Student of the Year' sequel opposite Tiger Shroff, Sridevi signed off saying, "Wait for the announcement, it’ll come soon enough and aapko khud pata chal jayega."
