According to reports, Shraddha Kapoor is all set to step into Saina Nehwal's shoes for Amole Gupte's biopic on the ace shuttler. Director Amole Gupte has been researching on the topic for quite some time now and in fact has been in touch with Saina and her family as well.
While there was a lot of speculation about who will play the ace shuttler, Shraddha has come onboard for the same. Talking about stepping into Saina's shoes, an excited Shraddha said, "Most girls have played badminton at some point in their lives in school. I feel so lucky to be playing Saina, who's not just been the world's No. 1 badminton player, but is also a youth icon. I can't wait to start prepping for my role."
When reached out to Saina, who is currently in Chine for the Badminton Asia Championship, said, "Whoa! That's news to me. I was aware of the film, yes, but I didn't know about the casting. It's great if Shraddha plays me because she is a very talented actress and very hardworking. I am sure she will do justice to the role. The best part is, she is a good friend as well. So it will be easier to teach her some badminton skills (laughs!). A lot of people did tell me that we do look similar and I think that's a huge compliment because Shraddha is very good looking."
This is not the first time Saina has complimented Shraddha. The ace shuttler was all praises for Shraddha's 'Haseena' look and even tweeted about it:
Shraddha will also be seen essaying the character of Haseena Parkar in the upcoming biopic on the Mafia Queen. Currently, Shraddha is busy with the promotions of her next, 'Half Girlfriend' with Arjun Kapoor. Directed by Amole Gupte and produced by T-Series, Saina Nehwal's biopic is all set to release in 2018.
