We are still trying to wrap our heads around the fact that Bollywood has lost one of its most loved, talented, gorgeous and versatile entertainers. As the country mourns the death of Sridevi, we do too. Sridevi, who had an illustrious career spanning over four decades passed away at Emirates Tower in Dubai at 11 pm on Saturday night, post which she was rushed to Rashid Hospital and her mortal body was given to forensic experts. Her body was then kept at Al Qusais morgue.
Sridevi's brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor confirmed that the actress had passed away and that he had to take a return flight back to Dubai as he had already landed in Mumbai when we got to know of her demise. She was in the hotel room in Dubai when it happened, he said. "We are completely shocked. She had no history of a heart attack," Sanjay Kapoor said.
A versatile actor, Sridevi made her Bollywood debut in 1978 with 'Solva Sawan'. However, she gained popularity and acclaim after 'Himmatwala'. Some of her other movies include 'Chandni' (1989), 'Sadma (1983) and 'Lamhe' (1991). Sridevi's so-called comeback film 'English Vinglish' in 2012 proved that she could play almost any role and it was just last year that she was seen in the revenge-drama, 'Mom'. Sridevi also did several South Indian films which garnered her popularity down south too.
Sridevi was a mother to Khushi Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor who will be making her debut with 'Dhadak' soon. She was also step-mom to Arjun Kapoor, Boney Kapoor's son from late first wife Mona Kapoor. Her sudden death has shocked not just her family and the film fraternity, but the nation.
