Sanjay Dutt's biopic, just like his real life, somehow manages to attract a lot of attention. As director Rajkumar Hirani has already begun shooting for the film, it is well-known that Ranbir Kapoor will play Baba's role in the film. The role is challenging, and RK junior underwent many a look tests before they finalised on one. However, rumours are rife that Sanjay thinks Ranbir is no match for his biopic. In a drunken state, Sanjay once insulted Ranbir for not doing macho films like the ones he did.
So, in a recent interview with Ranbir Kapoor, a leading Bollywood magazine questioned Ranbir about his role in the biopic. The actor said, "The biopic Rajkumar Hirani is making will teach you something. It will talk about human flaws, the emotional father-son story, his relationship with his best friend, with the women in his life. It's emotional, it;s funny, it's sad, it's bittersweet. The youth have a lot to learn from his mistakes."
Ranbir further went on to add, "Sanjay's lived his life. He owned up to his mistakes, he's paid the price for it. He's been through much...his mother (the late Nargis Dutt) passing away before the premiere of his film, drug abuse, being labelled as a terrorist, his failed marriages, the grind of punishment...We are not trying to project Sanjay Dutt in any way. It's not a propaganda film."
The film that also stars Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Paresh Rawal, and Dia Mirza is slated to release during Christmas this year.
