Ranbir Kapoor was all set to collaborate with his 'Wake up Sid!' and 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' director Ayan Mukerji for a sci-fi thriller film, 'Dragon'. Produced by Dharma Productions, 'Dragon' was touted to be India's answer to Western superhero flicks!
A magnum opus of sorts, the film was to have the best of International technicians working on the project to at par with Hollywood films. In fact, recently Ayan had flown to London to do a recce for the film and was soon joined by the film's leading lady, Alia for the same.
Talking about 'Dragon', Alia in the recent past had stated, "It is not a typical superhero film. It's a sci-fi, supernatural film. There will be some extensive prep work not for the acting part much, but for the world - it's a new world. There is no dialect or anything that we have to learn. Ayan said there is no Ranbir and Alia there in the film, there is just one character, it is that tight a love story."

However, apparently, the cost quoted for the special effects was a tad bit too over budget from the figure that Ranbir-Ayan had in mind.
A source close to the production revealed, "This was like back to square one for the team. Producer Karan Johar has taken the film back to the drawing board to figure out the budget vis-a-vis international technicians. Also, the fact that the Indian super-hero films like 'The Flying Jatt' have bombed, has tilted the scales towards a no-go for Dragon."
The source further added while the project was to go on floor this July, the current status of the film is 'delayed'! The film would have brought Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan together for the first time onscreen!
