Rajkummar Rao to turn antagonist for the first time in 'Omertà'
The actor is said to play the role of a British-Pakistan terrorist, Omar Saeed Shaikh, who is considered to be one of the most dreaded terrorists of all time
Alisha Alam | Mar 12, 2018, 12:45 ISTRajkummar Rao has certainly proved his mettle in the Bollywood film industry. If there's one actor who can don any role it's Rajkummar Rao. From playing the almost shy Shahid to playing the honest election officer with passion for a free and fair election in 'Newton', Rajkummar had done it all. Except now, he's back with something more. This time, Rajkummar is all set to don the role of an antagonist in his upcoming film 'Omertà'. The actor is said to play the role of a British-Pakistan terrorist, Omar Saeed Shaikh, who is considered to be one of the most dreaded terrorists of all time.
Director Hansal said, “Audiences will be surprised to see Rajkummar’s antagonistic turn in 'Omertà'. Here is a man you will and must loathe. For both Raj and me, this film and Omar’s character were a completely new territory — a journey into an evil mind. This is a very different Rajkummar, he is diabolical in this film.” Talking about his role, Rajkummar said, “This has been one of the toughest characters to portray. It is not easy to play the anti-hero. 'Omertà' required a lot of work. Everything about me had to change — my voice, my look, my body. I’m very curious to see how audiences respond to me as a terrorist.” The film is slated to release on April 20, 2018. Stay tuned for more updates.
