Cricketer Kapil Dev's leadership inspired and impressed India when he rocked the cricket world by helping the Indian team reach the finals of the 1983 World Cup at Lord’s. Not only did the Indian team shock the West Indies cricket team in the finals, they also won the World Cup. Even after 34 years of the moment that triggered India’s rise to become the epicenter of the global game, the audience still loves to reminisce about the moment. Now, the band of Cup-winning brothers will be brought to life on the screen in a biopic.
Director Kabir Khan will helm the upcoming Kapil Dev biopic titled '83', in which actor Ranveer Singh is scheduled to take on the challenging role of the cricketer. Recently, Kapil interacted with key members of the film unit and stated that is not too worried if the actor can essay his character to perfection. “These days, these actors from the film industry, they are so good,” Kapil said during an interaction on Wednesday.
When asked if he expects Ranveer to get the iconic Kapil bowling action right, the cricketer stated, “I don’t know. When I watched 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', I could not believe Farhan Akhtar looked better than even Milkha uncle. It is very unfair for us to make a statement at this stage (shooting expected to start later in the year), but Farhan ko agar dekho tho yakeen nahi kar sakta hai ki koi itna achcha kar sakta hai. (If you watch Farhan, you won’t believe someone can do Milkha’s role so well). Think on the positive side; these actors are too good.”
Well, let's see how well Ranveer can nail Kapil Dev's character on screen. Stay tuned for more updates.
