After being married for almost 16 years, Farhan Akhtar and Adhuna Bhabani announced their split last year The couple formally filed for a mutual divorce last year, which was finalised by the Bandra family court yesterday.
According to reports, the custody of their two kids, Shakya and Akira, will remain with Adhuna, and Farhan will have full access to them. Though the couple is now divorced, Farhan and Adhuna have maintained a cordial relationship with each other.
As the directive issued by the court, the couple even attended a few counselling sessions in November last year, but still decided to go through with the divorce proceedings. The reports further suggest that during the morning session yesterday, the judge called out the case twice, but neither Farhan or Adhuna were present.
Farhan and Adhuna came to the court in the second half and directly met the marriage counsellor VS Athavale. Following which they appeared before judge MM Thakare, who granted them the divorce. Confirming the news, Farhan’s lawyer Fazaa Shroff-Garg said, “The divorce by mutual consent was allowed by the family court in Bandra.”
