Known for her typical commercial potboilers, 'Main Hoon Na', 'Om Shanti Om' and 'Happy New Year', Farah Khan in a recent interview with IANS revealed that she believes that people who ridicule Hindi movies will always be there. The filmmaker also added that people who ridicule such cinema should be made to watch boring films as a punishment.
Talking about the deriders of commercial masala cinema, Farah said, "This will be a constant factor… These people should be made to watch French or Polish cinema. Their punishment should be that they should be made to watch boring films for their whole life.”
Farah, whose repertoire boasts an impressive list of dance numbers added that Bollywood song and dance is as popular abroad as in India. The ace choreographer added, "Whenever I go abroad, (I see) the love they have for Bollywood. They love our films, songs and dances. These people (criticising Bollywood) should look at the industry from outsiders’ perspective. For us, Bollywood has become ghar ki murgi (idiom used to describe a situation where one undervalues things which he owns).”
Farah is currently judging the popular reality TV show, 'Indian Idol 9', alongside Anu Malik and Sonu Nigam.
