Team of 'Shubh Mangal Saavdhan', including, Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar, producer Anand L Rai and director RS Prasanna in a recent interaction spoke about their film which addresses the important yet taboo subject of performance anxiety in men. Ayushmann who plays the leading man, Mudit, and faces the problem was categorical in stating that the film tries to break stereotypes associated with manhood in society. He said, “Manhood is not just about ‘getting it up’, but standing up for various issues.
Meanwhile director Prasanna, who has adapted his Tamil hit in Hindi, highlighted how the film tries to address an issue which was restricted to being discussed only in the bedroom. He also said that the film tries to bring the subject out in the open for discussion. He added, “Today’s audience is much more evolved than what we give them credit for. Our grandparents’ generation was also more evolved than what we think, but if I don’t want to talk to my father about sex-education and prefer looking up on the internet, that is my problem. In fact, the Indian middle-class is extremely liberal. They just need an opportunity to come together and talk about things openly.”
Helmed by RS Prasanna and starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar, 'Shubh Mangal Saavdhan' is all set to release on September 1.
