Elon Musk is definitely one of the most admired and influential business minds and engineering geniuses of the 21st Century. And what he says is taken pretty seriously. However, that doesn't seem to hold true this time around. The man recently launched his own Tesla Roadster, a car made possible by his own investments, into space using one of the most advanced rockets in history, designed by his own company, SpaceX and it came as a shock when the same man said that Kanye West inspired him!
On Sunday, Musk made a semi-surprise appearance at South by Southwest for a question and answer session where he revealed that SpaceX would be ready to launch spaceships designed to go to Mars by the first half of 2019! However, he then added, to the surprise of almost everyone, the audience and the Internet alike, that he was inspired by Kanye West when asked about his inspiration for the project. His answer was direct stating it was Kanye West "obviously." And much like we expected, the Internet, especially Twitter went crazy! Here's how twitteratis reacted:
Some couldn't handle it...
However, a few were totally ecstatic about the news...
This is not the first time Musk has expressed his admiration for Kanye. In a 2015 blurb for a magazine, Elon had the nicest things to write about Kanye. "The dude doesn’t believe in false modesty, and he shouldn’t. Kanye’s belief in himself and his incredible tenacity—he performed his first single with his jaw wired shut—got him to where he is today," Elon had written in his blurb. There’s no doubt that Kanye is a creative and musical genius in his own right, but somehow we're not quite sure how he could inspire the making of a spaceship... What do you'll think?
