Stuti Srivastava | Apr 11, 2017, 16:39 ISTDeepika Padukone was one of the first Bollywood celebrities to talk about her battle with depression in public. She spoke about depression at large and broke the stereotypes and stigma around the cause. She felt the need to talk about depression on a public platform so as to extend support to others who are still suffering with it.
While the actress dealt with depression and eventually fought her way out, Deepika continues to spread awareness about the cause. Deepika also initiated The Live Love Laugh Foundation which aims at creating awareness around mental health. Deepika has also been a part of events and programmes that highlight the cause and is supportive of the people who are the victims of depression.
Recently, at an event held in Bengaluru, Deepika again took to the stage and spoke about being supportive of the people who suffer from depression. She said, "Depression can strike anyone regardless of their age, background or economic status. Those who suffer from depression and other mental health issues face prejudice. Live Love Laugh is that common platform where everyone can get comprehensive knowledge, connect with professionals, and find comfort knowing that they are not alone."
