Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer, 'Padmaavat' has finally released and well, much like we expected it has gone on to be quite the hit with the masses too. And while Ranveer Singh has received much appreciation for his role in the film, Deepika and Shahid have received their fair share of accolades too. And in a recent interview with a leading daily, the actress spoke fondly of both her co-stars.
She said, “I don’t think 'Padmavati' would have been 'Padmavati' without Ranveer as Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Maha Rawal Ratan Singh. They have done what they have done with a big heart and a lot of generosity and I recognize that; for the work that they have put in and for the risks that both of them have taken for the film. A lot of people advised them to not do the film because the film was the name of the female protagonist.” About Shahid Kapoor and the character of Maha Rawal Ratan Singh, she said, “This film would be incomplete if Shahid did not do the film. It needed someone of his stature. There’s something very special that he brought (to the film).”
She added, “The day we finished the screening, I gave him a tight hug and it was an extremely emotional moment for all of us and all I could do is look him in the eye and thank him for doing this film.” In an earlier interview, Shahid had also mentioned his experience of working with Deepika. “It’s weird. There were times when I agreed to do a film and she declined it. Somehow, we never ended up doing a film together. 'Padmavati' is a great film to come together for. What a fantastic relationship existed between the king and the queen as husband and wife. It’s complex. Deepika’s a great actress. She’s at the top of the game. She’s perfect for 'Padmavati'. We had a great time working with each other. It didn’t feel that we were working for the first time,” he had said.
Well, looks like these two have developed quite a fondness for each other and it's all things heartwarming!
