After making an impressive Hollywood debut alongside Vin Diesel in 'xXx: Return of Xander Cage', Deepika Padukone though wanted to do more work in the West, the actress made sure she only picked the right projects so that it could add value to her line of work. While Deepika was in talks for other Hollywood projects, the actress had to return to resume work on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Padmavati'.
On her return, rumour mills went abuzz with the reports of Deepika turning down a rather meaty Hollywood role as the producers couldn't finalise on her remuneration. However, a leading portal now reports that the actress did indeed lose on a big project, but apparently, she turned down the film as she has a rather busy shooting schedule for 'Padmavati'.
A source close to the portal informed, "Deepika was excited about the opportunity of working with the studio and the role that they offered. It would have given her another chance to showcase her acting talent, this time in romantic-drama film. She had to let go of the offer since the producers wanted to start filming this year and start workshops for the actors from August onwards. Since Deep is still neck deep into 'Padmavati', she wouldn’t have been able to take out time and therefore gave it a pass."
The source also said that the film Deepika was approached had an ensemble cast and that the actress was to play one of the leads in the film. However, due to the constant delays in 'Padmavati's' shooting schedule, Deepika reluctantly said no to taking up any Hollywood projects.
