Akshay Kumar is currently busy with the shoot of his upcoming film 'Padman' and is all set to play the role of Gulshan Kumar in 'Gold'. The actor, who has also wrapped up his latest film, 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' alongside Bhumi Pednekar took to Twitter to share a few disturbing facts about the problem of open defecation in the country.
In the video shared by the actor, Akshay opens the video by saying, βI initially wondered if I should talk about this, as I knew many would point out that I am doing this video only for the publicity of my upcoming film. And, you are right. I am doing this film Toilet Ek Prem Katha, and I do want as much publicity as possible for this particular topic.β
During the course of the video, Akshay urged the audience to build more toilets and expressed concerns about the consequences, especially poor women have to face hardships and defecate in fields due to lack of access to toilets.
Concluding the actor said, "We give donations in temples, gurudwaras, churches and masjid for blessings, canβt we give 10% of that donation to build a toilet for the poor.β
