02/12Hrithik Roshan's filmy roots
Hrithik Roshan’s entire family belongs to the film and music industry. Hrithik's maternal grandfather was director-producer J Om Prakash, and his paternal grandfather was Roshan Lal Nagrath, a classical musician, and famous composer. His paternal grandfather composed music for the movies in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. Even Hrithik's paternal grandmother, Ira Nagrath/Ira Roshan, was a music composer. When Hrithik's grandfather died, it was Ira who completed composing the music for his unfinished film. His father, Rakesh Roshan, was a successful actor and his uncle Rajesh Roshan is also a music composer, who composed the music for Hrithik's debut film, ‘Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai’. He's also the grand nephew of director Mohan Kumar (Grandfather J Om Prakash's wife and Mohan Kumar's wife are sisters). Hrithik's former wife Sussanne Roshan is also the daughter of yesteryear actor Sanjay Khan, who also became popular as Tipu Sultan when he played the historical character on TV. Hrithik's entire family seems to be gifted. No wonder Hrithik is such a great artist.

Dance is something that can’t be separated from Hrithik and various dance legends like Prabhu Deva and Govinda have termed him as the best dancer in the film fraternity. But when it comes to the favorite of this hot dancer; Shammi Kapoor and the legend Michael Jackson are his personal favorites. Hrithik is known for his dance moves but little did we know that at the age of 19, the star suffered from Spinal Disc Herniation; for which the actor was told that he would never be able to dance or act. But with his efforts and determination, he not only overcome Spinal Disc Herniation but also became a dancing living legend. Hrithik’s motto is to live the best life possible come what may. Hrithik also has a fondness towards photography. The star maintains a personal scrapbook where he documents his daily life by taking pictures adding them to his scrapbook.

Presently if he has to even make a guest appearance in a movie; it is definitely worth millions as he has some amazing dance moves, but Hrithik cherishes his memory of his first salary. He was 6 years old when he received his first salary and it was a sum of 100 Rupees by his maternal grandfather J. Om Prakash. This was the salary for Hrithik shaking a leg with Jeetendra in the movie ‘Aasha’ in 1980. With this money; Hrithik bought 10 hot wheel cars which were a great deal amongst the kids back then.
05/12A wrong prediction made by the doctors
In a very young age of only 19; Hrithik was heartbroken to hear from his doctor that he will not be able to dance again. Imagine Hrithik not being capable of dancing! The thing sure sounds weird now but all this was made possible due to his efforts and determination. Not only overcoming that Spinal Disc Herniation but also becoming a dancing living legend was not any lesser than a fairy tale or fictional inspirational story. Hrithik’s took to exercising so seriously that he is perhaps Bollywood’s best dancer. While shooting a stunt in Thailand for ‘Bang Bang’, Hrithik suffered a head injury and had to undergo brain surgery.
06/12Turning down great roles
This actually is a fact about Hrithik that he has turned down many great roles and most of them due to the dates problems. Farhan Akhtar first wanted Hrithik to play the role of Sid in the movie ‘Dil Chahta Hai’. Farhan also wanted him to play the lead role in ‘Don’ instead of Shah Rukh Khan. One more role for which Shah Rukh Khan was approached after Hrithik had rejected was the lead role in ‘Swades’. Other than these, Sidharth’s role in ‘Rang De Basanti’ was also offered to him first. Hrithik is very hard working actor for sure, he dedicates his whole time to a movie and works doubly hard to portray a particular character on screen. His every character is unique and he leaves a mark on each character he plays.
07/12Problem with Stuttering
Hrithik’s fluency with dialogues seems quite effortless now but ever since childhood, Hrithik had a problem that he stuttered. It was so bad that he often used to bunk school as a kid at the times of oral exams. Even after being good at studies he was scared of answering the questions since other kids used to make fun of him when he stuttered. We are sure those kids would be themselves amazed by the confidence that he shows now in front of the camera. Hrithik Roshan has always spoken openly of his stammering and that he went through speech therapy to speak fluently, not to mention that he still does speech exercises every day. Since childhood, Hrithik had this problem.

Hrithik’s very famous nickname Duggu was given to him by his grandmother. He was very affectionate to his grandmother and the reason why his grandmother named him Duggu is also an interesting one. Actually, Hrithik’s father Rakesh Roshan’s pet name is Guddu. And while everyone was thinking of a pet name for Hrithik; his grandmother came up with the idea of naming him Duggu that comes as a sound when chanting Guddu continuously. Duggu is Hrithik’s nickname, and his official name is Hrithik Nagrath. Hrithik has always been extremely close to his father. As a result, he never got any scolding or beating from his father, with the exception of one incident. Once when Hrithik and some of his friends were throwing empty bottles from the terrace.

Hrithik is the fifth Bollywood star whose wax statue finds a place at the Madame Tussauds’ wax museum. His statue in trendy denim jeans and a sleeveless red jacket emphasizes on his sculpted body mainly. He is also shown wearing a pendant in the neck and in all; the statue’s look has been inspired by his look and attire in ‘Dhoom2’. According to reports, it was allegedly one of the most daring figures the museum ever created. According to Forbes India Celebrity 100 list (2016), Hrithik is ranked 10th, making him one of the most powerful stars to make it to the prestigious list. Hritik is the fifth Bollywood celebrity after Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan to get his very own statue at the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in London.

Now while most of the heroes in the film fraternity take help of the body doubles and stuntmen for their action sequences sometimes; Hrithik likes to do his own stunts. In his movie ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’; Hrithik did all of the stunts in the scenes of bull race, skydiving and shooting in the deep water; all by himself. He is said to be a great swimmer and has come to be known for having a natural flair for swimming. Hrithik, who loves to perform his own stunts and has suffered many injuries during shoots, was also diagnosed with scoliosis when he was only 21. Scoliosis is a medical condition in which a person's spine is curved from side to side and it appears like 'S' or '?'. Hrithik was told that he could not become an actor. But he proved everybody wrong. He is also a certified scuba diver.
