We are illusioned by the fact that actors live a perfect life, but it is only when an actor talks about an issue faced is when we pop out of the bubble. It has never been easy for public figures to talk openly about their problems, but when a celebrity opens up about an issue, it encourages others to speak in favour too.
With eve-teasing and molestation now an issue faced much more than often, Sonam Kapoor, on Rajeev Masand's Round Table, revealed a similar incident. Speaking of her trauma, Sonam said, "I was going to watch a Raveena Tandon-Akshay Kumar film to Gaiety theatre. I was with my girl friends; we were 14. We had gone outside to get samosas and I was last while coming back, being the tallest."
Continuing on what turned out to be a horrific day, she added, "A man came from behind and held my breasts. I started shaking and shivering, not knowing what was going on. I was crying but I sat and finished the film. I just felt I had done something wrong. I didn’t talk about it for a good two years. I know a lot many people who’ve gone through stuff like these."
While the incident is traumatising, it is very brave of Sonam to talk about it on a public platform. More power to you girl!
