Imtiaz Ali is one of the finest filmmakers the Indian film fraternity has hever seen. Known for working on intelligent scripts and having great command over his craft, Imtiaz takes pride in the dignified manner in which he presents his heroines in his movies.
He has never portrayed his leading ladies as the typical Bollywood heroine, who don’t have much to do on screen. On the contrary, Imtiaz Ali’s female leads have been the driving forces in his films, playing a key role in taking the story ahead. Be it ‘Socha Na Tha’ (Ayesha Takia), ‘Jab We Met’ (Kareena Kapoor) or ‘Love Aaj Kal’ (Deepika Padukone), his heroines are unforgettable.
So, when asked recently, if, over the years, his understanding of women has become better, the filmmaker said,
“I don’t know if my understanding of women has become better, but I can say that now, I am more interested in them. It has always been there. As a child, I was always guilty about being interested in girls and women, now I am old enough to admit that, yes, that’s the case. I am fortunate to have been in the company of admirable and intelligent women. I always feel that women are far more intelligent and sharper than men.” “More than understanding women, I think that I am fascinated by them,” said the filmmaker before signing off. On the work front, Imtiaz is gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, which will hit the theatres on 4
th August.
