Troubles seem to be unending for Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor starrer ‘Veere Di Wedding’. First, the film was pushed due to Kareena’s pregnancy, and now Ekta Kapoor who was co-producing the film may opt out of the project.
‘Veere Di Wedding’ was supposed to mark Kareena’s return to acting post she gave birth to Taimur in December. However, with numerous delays obstructing the shoot schedule of the film, co-producer Ekta spoke to a leading tabloid indicating that she may not invest in the film.
“It needs to be a profitable venture [for me]. Eventually, it’s a business,” said Ekta as she further spoke about the growth of video-streaming platforms affecting television market. She further added, “At this moment, I don’t even know if I am investing in Veere or any other movie. As a producer, I have decided to only invest in films that will pull the audience out of their homes to the theatres. Rs 200 is a lot of money to demand [for tickets]. The content has to be bang on to bring in the bucks.”
Apart from television shows and films, Ekta has now taken her first step into the digital space. She has now started producing a series of web shows under the banner, ALT Balaji.
