Acne is far more common than you imagine it to be. In fact, nearly everyone has a breakout every once in a while. Usually, acne is caused due to the build-up of dead skin cells that can clog the pores and increase the production of oil in the skin. This can make your skin greasy and more prone to producing excessive sebum. But while you may think that this is an endless cycle, if you follow a proper routine and make sure that you keep your face clean and do so on a regular basis you can actually say goodbye to acne for good. So, if your skin is super prone to acne, here are some tips you should follow religiously.
02/8Avoid using washcloths
As much as you might like using a washcloth to scrub your face, it's best that you avoid using one. Use your hands to wash your face and cleanse it properly and then pat it dry using a towel.
03/8Do not use exfoliating brushes
These can actually make your skin worse if you have acne. Since these brushes can be rough on the skin, they might even end up leaving scars on your face. So, use normal exfoliating creams instead of physical exfoliators.
04/8Wash your face right after working out
If your skin is prone to acne then it's best to keep it clean at all times. When you work out, you end up with a lot of sweat on your face which can trigger acne breakouts. So, as soon as you're done working out, wash your face with a mild cleanser to keep it clean.
05/8Cleanse
The one thing you need to do on a daily basis is to cleanse your skin. Make sure that you use a gentle cleanser on your face twice a day to help get rid of all the dirt and impurities on your skin. While it's okay to use something with healing properties during the morning, for the evening ensure that you have something stronger and also make sure to double cleanse so as to get rid of all the impurities thoroughly.
06/8Tone
Once you're done cleansing your skin, you should opt for a toner to help minimise the appearance of pores, get rid of excess oil from your skin and even give your skin a glow. Try to opt for one with ingredients like salicylic acid and glycolic acid as they can balance the oil in your skin. Natural ingredients like ginseng, chamomile, and rose are also great since they contain antioxidants.
07/8Serum
Follow up your cleansing and toning with a kickass serum. Serums work wonders in making your skin tone even and giving it a smooth texture overall. Try to opt for one with the right ingredients like Vitamin C and salicylic acid for brightness and oil control.
08/8Moisturise
Even if you have oily skin it is best that you moisturise your skin. More often than not, your skin gets dehydrated and that's what causes all that excess oil production in your skin. So, just opt for one that features a non-comedogenic formula which means that it won't clog your pores. This way your skin will stay hydrated without aggravating your acne.
