As a beauty junkie, it’s safe to say we’re tried every other lipstick we could get our hands on. As cliché dictates, we love good dose of light pink, especially on the lips. But wearing a light pink lipstick comes with a share of its own challenges. Firstly, most of them wash out Indian skin tones. Secondly, when they do look good, they probably only look good in flattering mall light? So is a girl supposed give up on her love for pinks? No way, girl! We’ve got you covered. We tried every light lipstick out there and shortlisted a bunch that looks amazing on our beautiful Indian skin tone. Read on.
02/12L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lip – Nude Ballet
Formulated with precious micro-oils and rich color pigments, this is a nude that will keep your lips from drying out, even though it is a liquid lipstick. It is a nude-pink colour, with a slight gloss, which makes for a perfect everyday colour.
03/12NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - Abu Dhabi
This lip colour is a liquid lipstick that is lightweight and long-lasting, and has a velvety feel. On application, it gives a soft matte finish. The creamy texture is great for people looking for a slightly moisturising option.
04/12Maybelline Lipstick - Mysterious Mocha
This lipstick from Maybelline is enriched with a hydrating formula, with color that doesn't fade in extreme heat or humidity, which is a huge pro in the climate we live in. It doesn't dry up your lips, and is actually a great buy because it is also super affordable.
05/12Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink – Self Starter
This Maybelline lipstick is another one of those trickster shades. On most warm skin tones it sits like a peachy pink nude lipstick. However, neutral wheatish complexions transform it into a luscious dark peach that makes the face glow.
06/12MAC – Mehr
This is probably the most popular Mac pink lipstick out there! A dull rose (we prefer this prettier definition than the tag ‘dirty pink’!) that can look anything between a subtle pink and nude sorbet depending on the skin tone that’s wearing it. The blue tones in the pigment would flatter cool-hued skin complexions.
07/12Colorbar Deep Matte Lip Cream– Deep Lily
This bright fuchsia pink lipstick shade with purple highlights is pretty similar to the Sephora Indian pink. This one, though, is slightly brighter and comes at a fraction of the price! Similarities aside we feel that this lip colour would look a tad better on fair skin tones.
08/12MAC Pink Pigeon
MAC Pink Pigeon is one of the ultimate true pink lipsticks. It has blue tones to it, and it leans towards the royal pink or raani pink as they call it. Being a MAC lippie, it has fabulous pigmentation and a staying power. It is the brightest pink in the MAC range
09/12M.A.C Satin Lipstick – Mocha
Take break from strong mattes and give into this satiny freshly brewed caffeinated goodness. Aptly named Mocha, this shade looks like a flushed nude on fair skin toned, a light toned nude on medium skin tone and a brightening nude on deeper shades. Talk about inclusivity.
10/12NYX Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream – Cannes
Here’s brightening nude lip colour with just a hint of pink –it’s perfect for the day time. Another winning shade, that manages to look different but beautiful on all skin tones. Its mousse-to-matte texture has a fun club of its own.
