Don't you just hate it when you end up with chapped lips? Not only do they hurt like hell but they also make it rather difficult to wear lipstick. There are a number of reasons how you could end up with chapped lips but the most common ones are dehydration and licking your lips. So, while you may try a number of things to help restore and replenish all that moisture your lips need, you might also be wondering how to wear lipstick if you have chapped lips. Well, fret not for there is a solution to every problem, even this one. Here are a few steps that will ensure you have chap-free and lipstick ready lips in no time. Take a look.
02/5Start by exfoliating
You either need to invest in a quality scrub or you can make one on your own (we prefer sugar and coconut oil scrub) if you prefer more natural ingredients. Take a pea-sized amount of this scrub and rub it gently on your lips for a good 2 minutes. Leave it on for another 5 minutes and then wipe it off with a warm towel. Exfoliating will help get rid of all the dead skin on your lips.
03/5Moisturise
Just like your skin needs to be moisturised regularly, so do your lips. Once you're done exfoliating your lips, either apply a lip balm of your choice to them or use some coconut oil. The nourishing properties in these moisturisers will heal the cracks in your lips. And they also work well as a temporary solution when you want to wear lipstick on chapped lips.
04/5Prime your lips
You can use a regular face primer for this. Once you've applied a lip balm or coconut oil, the next step should be to even out all the cracks in your lips and the easiest way to do this is to use your primer. This way you'll end up with a smooth surface to apply your lipstick on and it'll also ensure that the entire colour stays in place.
05/5Apply the lipstick
Now, that you have a seamless base, go ahead and apply that lipstick of yours. If you're opting for a semi-matte formula then use two coats to give it a deeper hue. And don't you worry about any cracks or creases. Trust us, they won't show at all.
