Tip number one: Wash your hands. It may sound basic to say but it is important as harmful things can transfer onto the lenses. Your lenses should be the first thing you put on before applying cream or makeup.
02/8Put contacts in before applying makeup
Some people suggest putting contacts after the application of makeup as they don’t want scratches or the contacts to come out due to teasing of the eye area. But you all have to be is a little more careful. The chances of getting makeup on fingers and then on the contacts is far more, which could also lead to an infection.
03/8Use cream eyeshadows instead of powder
Though both types of eyeshadow can get into the eyes when being applied, it is easier to control the dust from cream shadows. Using an eyeshadow primer can help the shadow adhere to the lids.
04/8Be careful with eyeliner
Contact lens wearers should avoid applying liner to the inside of the lash line (the flat part of the lid.) This blocks and can cause infection of the important oil producing tear glands, which can lead to dry eyes, filmy lenses and even sties.
05/8Choose oil-free products
The oils that certain creams and eyeshadows contain can get into your eyes. This can be pesky for those who wear contacts as it will create cloudy lenses and make it difficult to see. However, it won't do any harm to your eyes.
06/8Stay away from the lid ledge
The lid ledge is the area of the lid that touches your eyeballs. It is where the eyes' oil glands open up. Blocking those glands with makeup can cause dry eyes and sties. It can even make your lenses dirty.
07/8Be careful when using mascara
Clumps and excess particles from mascaras can fall into your eyes. It can be very uncomfortable if it is trapped in the lenses. Choose lengthening and volumizing mascaras and avoid ones that contain fibres.
08/8Invest in lid wipes
Makeup can cause a lot of irritation for those wearing contacts. Lid wipes can help get rid of all the makeup residue. It will keep the eyes protected and won't contaminate or damage the lenses.
