Kurtas have become a ‘basic’ in the wardrobes of our celebrities and rightly so. The classic piece is nothing but chic and comfy and it makes for the perfect daytime casual look, airport look or even a rather trendy evening look if styled well. Low maintenance yet form-flattering, the kurta is essentially that go-to-piece for most women and your Bollywood divas seem to wholeheartedly agree. Here’s how your Bollywood favourites prove that the kurta is probably the most versatile piece in your wardrobe...
02/8Kangana Ranaut
Channelling old-Bollywood vibes, Kangana was spotted in the white kurta at the airport. The actress styled her embroidered white kurta with a white churidaar and a white dupatta and added that pop of brightness to her monotone look with red lipstick. With her hair taken up in a neat up-do and with diamond earrings and a tan bag, she rounded her look off. Who said you can’t team loafers with a kurta set?
03/8Anushka Sharma
Being her minimalist self, Anushka was seen wearing this black Ikai set featuring striped pants teamed with a matching strappy kurta that was layered with a sheer black tie-up wrap. The contemporary-Indian outfit looked very chic and Anushka proved that with a set like this and statement danglers, you will have yourself a classic Indian evening look.
04/8Deepika Padukone
Deepika demoed a very casual and breezy way to style the classic white kurta. For an airport look, she teamed her white kurta with white cigar pants and she added that very classy vibe with tan mules and a darker tan handbag. Round sunnies completed her look. It doesn’t get better (and comfier) than Deepika’s airport look, does it?
05/8Sonakshi Sinha
Much like Deepika, Sonakshi teamed her white pants with a white kurta. However, Sonakshi opted for a sheer white kurta featuring a black striped border, ruched-up sleeves and a very Rajasthani-like wrap accent at the waist. Blue heels rounded her look off.
06/8Sonam K Ahuja
Spotted at a screening, Sonam kept it looking comfy in a navy blue Pèro kurta set. Her outfit featured cropped navy pants teamed with a matching blue kurta featuring a floral print at the hem. Her matching floral dupatta rounded the look off. Sonam went with statement silver jewellery to complete her look with. Sonam’s outfit makes for a chic daytime-casual mehendi look, doesn’t it?
07/8Kareena Kapoor Khan
For promotions of a film of hers, we spotted Kareena look all things chic in a rather off-beat kurta by Gulabo. Featuring striped metallic gold accents at various different places, her kurta was a very contemporary one. She styled it with plain white straight-fit pants and embroidered juttis for a chic look.
08/8Alia Bhatt
For a daytime promotional look, Alia was seen wearing this pink raw Mango kurta set. She styled her textured pink kurta with matching wide-legged pants and she proved that you could easily do away with a dupatta for a chic Indian look. Strappy pink heels rounded her look off.
Which way will you be styling your basic kurta this season?
